Re: Crash of hungarishe pilot Laszlo Molnar
Hungary's prominent ace pilot, the 23-year-old Hadnagy (2nd Lt.) László Molnár of I./101 F.G., was shot down in air combat with Mustangs of 31st F.G. His Bf 109G-6, V.848, crashed into the forest at Káld (Vas is the county). It was his 132nd combat mission and he had 25 air victories on his tally.
German-made aircraft of the Hungarian air force (similarly to other Central and East European Axis air forces) were referred to with their locally assigned serial/tactical number (in this case V.848). The German Werknummer of these aircraft is very rarely mentioned in Hungarian documents. We know some of them mainly from German sources.
