Spanferkel is on a distinguished road
Unteroffizier Artur Zarschler KG53

A friend of mine recently obtained some documents to DKiG winner Artur Zarschler.

Ehrenpokal. August 30, 1943
German Cross in Gold. October 17, 1943
Gold Bomber Clasp for 300 missions. April 1, 1945 signed by RK Walter Grasemann.

It appears that Zarschler served with 6./KG53 during 1943 in the capacity of a Bordmeckaniker and in March 1945, was with 4./ Erg. KG (J). This unit was equipped with the Me262, and was soon redesignated V. Erg. JG 2 (also using the Me262).

Although I have been unable to find out anything more beyond his time with KG53 I thought someone here might have additional info.. Ultimately the owner of the documents is hoping he ended up becoming a Me262 pilot before wars end.

Regards

Jeremy
