Re: Herbert Kaser Me 262
From Dan O'Connell's book "Messerschmitt Me 262 - The Production Log 1941-1945":
WNr. 170058 Call sign KL+WL. This A-1a is known to have existed at least as early as 12 July, at Leipheim. Fhr. Herbert Kaiser (Kaser) of Erprobungskommando 262 was safe after bailing out of this jet due to an engine fire on 30 July 1944 near Biberbach. At 09:58 hours, he had taken off from Leipheim to intercept an Allied reconnaissance aircraft.
The aircraft was most probably camouflaged with colours 74/75/76, the interpretation based on photographs of aircraft with werknummern bracketing this one's.
Cheers,
David
