Re: What happened to this Ju-88?

David,

Oops. A not altogether insignificant detail that I completely overlooked - sorry. There was another engagement against Ju88s but much later that morning involving No.151 Squadron Hurricanes which I believe resulted in one German aircraft damaged as follows:

8./KG30 Junkers Ju88A-1. Shot down by No. 151 Squadron Hurricanes over Dunkirk and crash-landed south of Calais 9.00 a.m. FF Uffz Lothar Georgi, BO Uffz Kurt Spura, and BS Gefr Paul Wieczoreck slightly wounded, Bordmechanic believed unhurt. Aircraft 100% write-off.

However, this does not 'square' with the first Ju88 claimed as a total loss. So an alternative scenario insinuates itself in that No.151 Squadron got both KG30 aircraft and the claim by No.74 Squadron was invalid - which having recently met one of the pilots involved I seriously doubt. But surely the answer is in your own hands ? What squadron number and whose signature appear on the original (un-edited) Form F ?
