In December of 1943 Canadian and Indian units of the British 8th Army advanced on Ortona, Italy commencing a battle that would be called, "Little Stalingrad."
A German soldier who was there for part of the battle has written an account of his experiences and it has been posted on the German Historical Museum's web site (in German) at:
