Surely there is a valid distinction to be drawn between the use of fighters (with or without bomb racks) in the battlefield support role; the use of such aircraft to attack tactical targets away from the battlefield (radar stations, aerodromes); and generalised harassment attacks against the enemy's home front? Aggregating these scenarios as "ground attack" is not all that helpful.
