Re: 4/NJG 1 Uffz.Hans Shwenke

Thanks Moonraker, didn't know the awards he gained,my Great Uncles Lancaster has recently been dug in Belgium and (I think wrongly) it is being said that Heinz Rokker shot them down. The Flight Engineer who baled out of the Lancaster, unfortunately died before I started researching. However an account by him states they were holding at 9,000ft when attacked, this matches with Hans Schwenke's hight of 8,200ft. (as opposed to Heinz Rokker's 14,100ft. Especially as the Flight Engineer said a Ju88 carried out a Schrage Musik style attack,so would have been underneath.I don't know if Hans Schwenke was flying a Ju88 or an Me110,or whether the bombers crew actually saw the nightfighter or made an assumption of it being a Ju88,of course seeing a photo of Hans Schwenke and his gunner/crew would be rewally good. Thanks again,Laurence.
