Re: He111 of 6./KG1 (?) down at Loon Plage Beach in 1940??

Hello all,

I've had a chance to study this photo a little more closely and I think that this does represent a 6./KG1 He111, although neither Peter C. nor I can find no good candidate for this loss. I don't remember seeing this flying owl badge on an aircraft before. Does anyone else have know of any examples of this insignia actually on an aircraft?

The code should be V4+EW or V4+FW, the last two digits of which are partially visible. The "E" or "F" appears to be black, when it should be yellow, but it may have been overprinted in black for night operations. Again, has anyone obtained any other views of this wreck, perhaps from an eBay auction?

Regards,
