Re: Luftwaffe Loss, Erps-Kwerps (Belgium)

Hello Alain,
Thanks, but unfortunately that isn't the aircraft.
The Luftwaffe aircraft that came down in Erps-Kwerp (Erps Querbs) fell in a field. Not near a church.

To be exact it fell in a hamlet of Kwerps named Silsem. The tail of the plane was found in Nederokkerzeel, according to a witness.

One of the witnesses I spoke to was 11 at the time. He and his schoolmates watched the aerial combat standing in front of the class window (the teacher allowed them to near the window to have a better view). It was an aerial combat between two aircraft.

According to all eye-witnesses I spoke to the weather was clear and warm that particular day. All witnesses assume it occured in 1943 or 1944 during the German occupation.

My guess is that the incident happened in the spring of 1943 or 1944 or in the early autumn of 1943 (not during the summer vacation as my witness was in class when he watched the dogfight).

Any lead is most welcome.
Dirk
