Re: Guerilla/Partisan supply flights over Austria/Hungaria 1944

Stefaan, Kurtl is talking about Soviet VVS agent-dropping and supply missions and not the USAAF/RAF ones which are well known.

Kurtl: there are files on these in the OKW Amt Abwehr records at BA-MA Freiburg. As well as Hungary and Austria, the VVS also flew numerous such missions over and to the Partisan-occupied areas of Yugoslavia using Il-4s, Tu-2s and Li-2s (Russian version of the C-47). The flights over Yugoslavia and Austria were mostly to drop agents. The flights were at night (of course) and the Luftwaffe attempted to use night fighters against them but without much success. These missions were no where as numerous as those flown by the Amis and Brits, but they were certainly more than just a few.
