Re: Staka 4./Z.G. 26
Guys
The easiest explanation regarding the 9.5.1941 incident to Hubel, (Heubel or perhaps even Hübel?) is that he fell victim to friendly fire.
With regard to the St Kap problem of 4./ZG 26 I doubt that Paul Kleiner was either before or after Hubel since he was killed the same day, that is on May 20th, 1941. I have to admit it feels strange that he was a Hptm in this unit while the St Kap Hubel was "only" an Oblt. The norm must after all have been to have the leader of a unit to have the highest rank, although there could be others with the same rank within the unit.
Incidentally Meyer/Stipdonk in their Vol IV of their Zerstörer und Nachjagdverbände list Hubel as a Hptm and St Kap between 1.10.1940 to 7.10.1941
