I couldn't identify for 100% the snake pattern on those fuselages, but fully concur for the unpainted undersides.

Looking forward with eagerness to discover those three pictures form the Cham-Michelsdorf book!

Thanks for your link; I cannot add anything to the Bf 109 G's; as for the FW 190 D-9, it just has been published by Jerry Crandall in his excellent volume II of the "Focke-Wulf FW 190 Dora" publication, p. 152. This machine is a D-9, W.Nr 211904, found in Würzburg.
