Hi,
I would like to find records of German bombing in Staffordshire WWII, specifically one incident where a bomb load was dropped at Longdon village, right next to St James The Great church.
The local vicar is gathering some history of the church and I have been asked to look into this, although my research is more flying boats than this type of work. Can anybody help with some tips about where such information might be located? A few pointers to get me started would be great.
One rumour the vicar has heard is that an unexploded bomb actually hit the church, but that needs confirmation. Below is a link to Google's satellite view which clearly shows three craters in the field next to the church.
