Re: Information concerning feldwebel Karl Kuhnle - killed after 351 flying missions

Rick

Since no-one has responded - I'll give what I've got - which isn't much.

From the Kracker files he was KIA 5 Aug 43 with 8./StG1 NW of Kutafino

From the DKG database he was awarded the DKG 3 Apr 44 with 8./SG1 - obviously must be posthumous and 8./StG1 became 8./SG1 in Oct 43

From the Kursk website - the following

5/8/1943 Ju 87D-3 W.Nr. 2307 J9+BK 8./St.G. 1
FF Kühnle, Fw. Karl -- gefallen
BF Winterle, Uffz. Rolf -- gefallen
Flak. NW Kutafino 100% F

Interestingly Rolf Winterle also received the DKG (posthumous) but earlier on 10 Dec 43

From what you have supplied I can now add birth details and mission number to what I have on my files.

Keep up the good work

Regards,

Craig...
