The SDASM sub-tag is then more interesting than I initially thought.
The photos presented here and forward, are quite indifferent (to me at least) and all are all post WW 2.

None show anything from a supposed WW 2 or Korean service.
His rank of Colonel must be his final one, and I agree with you that being a Ltn in October 1944 and Major in November sounds like a too fast climb of ranks, even for wartime.
