We are very pleased to announce the release of another pilot biography today. This one telling the story of Dr Ernst Kupfer. He entered the
Luftwaffe relatively late in his military career, by then already
with the rank of
Hauptmann, and he rose to
General der Schlachtflieger in just under four years. The author is Ed Naylor, who has spent considerable time researching his subject, travelling through Germany tracing his footsteps from childhood and education to entry into the military.
This article uses many primary and secondary sources, including a personal letter exchange, to tell the story of Ernst Kupfer. It also features fifteen photographs, four maps and two colour profiles by Claes Sundin of Kupfer’s personal aircraft.
