What happened to F/O David Phillips ?

At 0800 hours on 2 April 1940, 504 Sqn Hurricane I L1951:L, flying as "Blue 2" and piloted by F/O David Phillips (90072) force-landed in a field at Martham, near Gt Yarmouth, Norfolk.
F/O Phillips, who together with two other Hurricanes in his section, had been in combat with a pair of He 115s from 3/506 over the North Sea, forcing one down and damaging the other.
According to the 504 Sqn ORB as he broke away from his final attack, in the face of spirited return fire, a bullet deflected from the wireless plug and penetrated his leg.
It is what happened to F/O Phillips next which intrigues me. He does not appear to be mentioned on RAF Officer lists after April 1940, and certainly took no part in the BoB three months later.
Can anyone please help with information on the ultimate fate of the pilot in this early-war incident ?
TIA
