He115/Do24 rescue 5 July 1942 PQ-17

Hi guys

Can anyone provide information on the rescue of some of the American freighter SS Carlton's crew on 5 July 1942, during the ill-fated Allied convoy to Russia.

Apparently a He115 of I./906 alighted near to a cluster of survivors on board lifeboats and life-rafts, and rescued two seamen. A Do24 was despatched to the area and picked up ten more, followed by a second (or the same Do24) which also rescued ten men, and finally another He115 (or the original) arrived and rescued two more. The remaining Americans were left behind and reached the Russian coast.

My questions: who were the pilots of the He115s and Do24s? Is this story from the German side tucked away somewhere?

Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Brian
