And should you say that midday is 12 pm? Noon is not
after noon (pm) but neither is it before noon (am). It’s less ambiguous to stick to “12 noon” and “12 midnight”.
Alternatively, my Dad said the rule in the Army was never to use (say) “00.00 on Saturday” because that can equally mean midnight Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. The answer was always to use 23.59 or 00.01.
