Gr Kdr I./KG 3 1940
Can anyone help confirm this? Up to at least the start of the Battle of France, I Gruppe was commanded by Obstlt Rudolf Gabelmann. At some stage after that, Maj Wilhelm Georg von Kunowski was acting Gr Kdr before Oberst Karl Frhr von Wechmar took over albeit records state that on 13 Aug 40, Gabelmann was still in command and then on 15 Aug 40, von Wechmar was wounded in combat as Gr Kdr. von Wechmar then took command of KG 26 and was killed in an accident 19 Nov 40
