Luftwaffe NaGr.11 M 109s

Good afternoon gentlemen,

I'm doing some research on Nahaufklarungsgruppe 11 (NaGr.11) for I found that it was based at the airfield in Florence July-August of 1943, just before the Indian 8th Division captured the city. I found a source indicating that this squadron was equipped at the time with 15 or so (8 serviceable) "Me 109 G-5/6/8s".

Now my question is, the NaGr units are supposed to be aerial reconnaissance formations. I believe that it would be logical if these Me 109G's were the recon variants of said aeroplane. (Me 109G-6/U4 for ex.). This said, I found a picture dating back to 1943 of a Me 109 with NaGr.11 emblem in Italy. The thing is, it seems to be a Gustav of the G-4 type.

I'm all confused so I was hoping that someone with greater knowledge than me would be able to help me figure out what exact planes the NaGr.11 were using in Florence, 1943.

Thanks in advance,

Jack
