During the execution of one such sea reconnaissance on January 1 1942 the L215 went missing in extremely bad weather near Banka. The aircraft and crew, consisting of Vdg R. Van Ligten, Vdg J. Winkels, Sgt (mechanic) P. Woortman and SLd (student aviation wireless operator) D. Mozes could not be found anymore and remained missing. These were the only losses suffered by the unit [Vk.
