On 18 July 1944 the Fliegerhorst Memmingerberg was attacked by allied bombers. The attack took place in four waves of 50 - 60 machines at 11 o'clock. The attack claimed 170 deaths and 140 wounded. Three halls were completely destroyed, three others, the shipyard and the accommodations were damaged. 26 aircraft of the 1st / Destruction sword 101 and the FFDS A 121 were destroyed, 40 were damaged. The IV. 7 JG 3, located in Memmingerberg, was able to shoot 14 American B-17 and 7 accompanying P-51"
