One of the old WW2 tough guys. In on the development of USAAF glider handling procedures in 1943, founder member of 2nd Combat Cargo with which he served in China-Burma-India until the end of the war. Made 14 trips over The Hump, awarded DFC.
Joined Lockheed in the early '50s, retired as Program Manager for their Field Service operations.
Perhaps he wasn't unique, but I didn't know anyone else like him.
