RAF Serrate Patrol / Claim – Rennes, France - Night 8-9 June 1944

Hello/Bonjour,

I am looking for the German losses that may have occurred in or near Rennes, France during the night of 8-9 June 1944. A Mosquito of No.141 Squadron on Serrate patrol claims an "enemy aircraft" (01.20 hours) - in fact, shot down by the Flak during the chase. What is disturbing is that at about the same time, a Pathfinder Mosquito belonging to No.627 Squadron is lost, shot down by the Flak over Rennes (…a Bomber Command raid over the Rennes marshalling yards occurred some minutes later). If there are no German losses in the Rennes area that night, could a friendly/enemy mistake have occurred with an aircraft equipped with the Serrate device? I am trying to get enlightenment on this latter loss and I thank you beforehand for your answers.

Best regards,
Frederic
