Re: RAF a/c shot down on 13.06.1941 Hamm, Germany
Hello Frankie!
This is my assumption based on the fact that from two Hampdens lost this night one had crashed into the sea, while the crew of this Hampden now buried at Reichswald. 91 Hampdens were out to attack rail yards at Soest that night, British crews encountered haze and cloud over Soest so only 42 aircraft bombed the primary, remaining bombed secondary targets - Hamm, Dortmund and Münster. The information about the mission is from 'Beware of the Dog at War' by John Ward. The book is the history of 49 Squadron (which also detailed aircraft for this raid) based on unit's records
