During strafing on Italina airfield in Diredawa on 15 March 1941, 3. Squadron SAAF lost tow Hurricane MK I Trop. One shot down and second force landed and captured by Italians.
"Capt Frost Hurricane’s was also hit and he force-landed on the satellite strip K92. Seeing his friend in trouble, Lt R.H. Kershaw landed alongside Frost’s Hurricane. Although the pilots attempted to destroy Frost’s Hurricane to prevent it from falling in Italian hands, they failed in this effort. Eventually they took off in one Hurricane, leaving the damaged airplane behind. "
