From "Air War Italy 1944–45" (Beale, D'Amico, Valentini):
W/O James and Sgt. McGibbon of No. 255 Sqn. were patrolling over the Adriatic when, despite sustaining hits from its ventral guns, they shot down a Ju 188 F-1 of 6.(F)/122 (W.Nr. 280229, F6+FP). It fell at 0410 on agricultural land at Borella (FO) and the farmer dumped the scattered remains of the plane into a pit. The fragments were picked over in January 1945 by a Field Intelligence Unit who established the plane's W.Nr. and the fact that it had carried FuG 200 ASV and FuG 216R warning radars. All four of Uffz. Günther Rissmann's crew died.
