If, on the other hand, you try to read the book as history, whether from an aviation or a political angle, well… every time the author deviates from his main mission (which is often), the result is disaster. Not only does he not have the basic knowledge necessary, he lacks the historian’s tradecraft, such as pinning down assertions with dates and documents, or even keeping a logical flow instead of a jumble of non-sequiturs. Those parts are a mess of errors and oddly chosen padding.
