regarding Series IX (MM9389-9488), Macchi-manufactured, I have compared different sources:
[1] G. Apostolo, Aermacchi C 202, 1996: september 41 - february 42
[2] R. Gentilli & L. Gorena, Macchi C202 in action, 1980: 1942
[3] AA.VV. , Dimensione Cielo-Caccia Vol. II, 1971: sept. 41- febr 42
[4] P. Skulki, Macchi C.202 Folgore, 2005: sept. 41-febr 42
I don't know if there is an "original" source from which all the others took advantage, but it seems that Series IX completed within the first half of 1942.
