Re: Der Nachtjäger Heinz Vinke

More information:

"Hermann Göring had stated in a speech on August 9, 1939, to want to call Meier, if ever a hostile aircraft would succeed in flying over German soil. The bombing of the German civilian population began in 1940 as an answer to the bombing of English cities with the attack of 99 English bombers on the Ruhr. Bombing and bombing with enormous destruction and many victims in the civilian population became a daily routine for people in Germany, especially after the USA entered the war in January 1943. In July 1940, Colonel Kammhuber was commissioned by Goering to build a night fighter division. The book deals with the fate of Heinz Vinke, born in Barby in 1920, who was highly decorated as a night fighter and made 54 kills, but who himself was shot down over the North Sea in February 1944."
