Looks more like SBD's than F4F's and from the name painted on the sides apparently sometime after the battle. Hoyle R Barr was, indeed, an SBD driver; ended the war as a Major, CO of VMSB-142, one of the last SBD squadrons in action in the summer of 1945 in the Philippines.
