Re: FW 190 A STKZ DT+FO
Chris, et al.,
This is an interesting discussion about "your" Fw 190 D T + F O. The photo of this kite helps greatly.
The D T + F O is a Fw 190A-4:
• No underwing bomb racks as fitted to the F-8 are visible.
• The profile of the upper fuselage forward of the cockpit is that of a Fw 190 anterior to the A-5 or F-8 series, i.e., an airplane fitted with MG 17s.
• The very rear end of the teardrop shaped fairing on the lower cowling goes slightly back beyond and over the wing fillet as characteristic of the A-4. The lengthened fuselage of the A-5 and later and of the F-8 shifted the teardrop fairing forward about six inches, or forward of the wing fillet.
• The Fw 190 D T + F G was reported in an ULTRA intercept as moving in northern Italy on 21 May 1944. See HW 5/486 - CX/MSS/T191/152.
Perhaps Peter Rodeike or some other knowledgeable reader has Werknummern for the D T + F - series.
