Hi Rabe

I must admit that I do not know the specific sub-type of the aircraft shown in the photograph but I honestly have to say that I do not believe that it is a early sub-type. The machine gun cowl appears to be that of a MG 131 armed machine and the 150-mm insert of the lengthened forward fuselage can also be seen in my opinion. Finally, the pitot tube is mounted on the wingtip as was standard for the Fw 190 A-8 and F-8. The aircraft was also fitted with the D/F loop antenna which I have the impression was not all that common on the Fw 190 A-4. Of course, I might very well be in error on some or all of the points made above but I hope this can lead to additional discussion.

Horrido!

Leo
