Luftflotte 3 says target was Liverpool. History of KG 27 says Liverpool which would have been attacked overnight. Rennes to Liverpool to Honington to Rennes? Must have been totally lost & in any case times do not compute. No mention of Luftflotte 3 units attacking an airfield well into Luftflotte 2's AOR.At 1635 hrs on 19 Aug 40, Luftflotte 3 reported the missing crew from III./KG 27 had returned. Some records state Plt Off J A Studd was lost in this combat but according to the Cas File, he got involved with 19 Sqn's combat with a Bf 110 which looks to have been a Do 17. 66 Sqn's claim for a He 111 was a probable. Most confusing I'm afraid. You have my times of the Honington casualties
