RAF vs. Luftwaffe over Bay of Biscay on 25.10.1943

Hi all,

I am tryining to establish possible opponents of No. 311 Sq Liberator on 25. 10. 1943. The crew stated on return:

14.30 47°20’ N 11°00’ W - sighted 5 twinengined aircraft painted black.
17.35 45°10’ N 11°20’ W - sighted 2 aircraft probably Do217s

There were no dogfight in any case a Liberator always find a cover in cloud.

UK had BST on this day, i.e. GMT+1, while Europe had CET, i.e. GMT+1, so Luftwaffe times should correspond with the RAF ones.

I have tried the Bloody Biscay but I have found nothing there.

So I am interested for any possible "canditates" for both spottings. I am ware that the first one might be an allied aircraft, Beuafighters for example.

TIA

Pavel
