About : RCAF 418 Squadron (18/19 June 1944) and USAAF 4th Fighter Squadron (4 July 1944) history

Dear all,

After 12 years of intense researches I found he crash site and information concerning this aircraft: Mosquito 5 Intruder which belonged to RCAF #418 Squadron, and his aircrew :

FO. Benjamin Peter Johnson (Canada)
FO. Robert Douglas Taylor (United States of America)

These airmen failed to return.

It was an Intruder mission over Bourges-Avord-Châteauroux area (central France) on 18/19 June 1944.

“Devoir de Mémoire”, Droit au Souvenir” … We want to remember their sacrifice for Liberty.

A commemorative stone project is on the way with all communities : city halls, Mayors, American and Canadian official representatives, Free French Fighters Associations, schools, researchers, friends etc ...

I will try to give you more details in a next future, as I am overloaded with work about the loss of pilot 2nd Lt Victore E. Denti (4Th fighter Group) who went down near Châteauroux on 4 July 1944 for a same celebration project.

Thank you for all help concerning these events : airmen, aicrafts, mission etc...
Regards

Philippe Canonne
