one question about emergency landings Pecs and Sombor airfields.
In some russian books, several recovered US bombers were listed as being flown from Sombor airfield. However, most of listed landed on Pecs airfield, according to MACRs. From some six bombers, only one actually landed in Sombor (B-17 44-6422). This is very certain from US documents, but I did found one statement where pilot claims that he saw several B-24s and B-17s on Sombor airfield.
Only possible explanation to me is that Soviets transferred them from Pecs to Sombor, before being sent further to east. Do you have some info on it?
