Re: Archive sites

Archives New Zealand has a searchable database of their files, which you then have to either go and see in person or perhaps order

A brilliant resource for both New Zealand and world history is the NZ National Library's Papers Past site, which is digitising newspapers from all over NZ. They intend to digitise right up to 1950, however at the moment they have got to 1931. There are many world events reported in these newspapers and it's totally searchable and free.

The Auckland War Memorial Museum's Cenotaph Database is also a handy resource for people killed in the wars, and in some cases who've died since and their families have contributed biographies
