Some enlarged and 'tweaked' known photos of Me 262s

Some photos on the internet have enough resolution to enlarge them and 'tweak' the colours, light and 'clarity'. This is the first of a number of a number of posts:

1. Me 262 V3 000003 PC+UC. Manfred Jurleit on p. 15 of Strahljaeger Me 262 Die Technikgeschichte, (1992), gives the caption for this photo as "Vorbereitung der Me 262 V-3 zum ersten Flug" [18 July 1942]. However, Smith & Creek, Me 262 Volume One, (1997), p. 103, says "This photo is thought to show the Me 262 V3 after it was rebuilt following the accident on 11 August 1942 when it was badly damaged. The aircraft returned to flight testing on 20 March 1943 and could be distinguished by the painting of its Versuchs (experimental) number on the fin."

2.Me 262 A-1a W.Nr. 170059. Smith & Creek, Me 262 Volume Two, (1998), p. 238, captioned this photo as: "On 3 August 1944 Oblt. Hans-Guenter Mueller of Erprobungskommando 262 flew this Me 262, W.Nr. 170059, fom Leipheim to Lechfeld. He is seen here standing on the wing just prior to the flight and before operational markings had been applied to the aircraft."

3. Under the heading SPECULATION, this photo may depict Me 262 A-2a W.Nr. 130180 9K+BL and Me 262 A-2a W.Nr. 130026 9K+AL taking off from Schwabisch-Hal for Juvincourt on 23 August 1944. However, "A" was seriously damaged in a notlandung near Charleville-Mezieres. If so, then "A" was hurriedly evacuated by road at the end of the month to Volkel for repairs.

best regards,

Jim
