Twelve
Luftwaffe Ju 88s took part in the raid on the night of 10/11 January 1943, with the attack occurring at 19:00. Three of the twelve Ju 88s had to break off the mission early. Total Allied losses were one B-17, one P-38 and one C-47 destroyed, two B-17s severely damaged, two aircraft with slight damage, and seven others lightly damaged by splinters. The 1st FG journal mentions nothing about three 71st FS/1st FG P-38s being lost, and only records the destruction of one P-38 from the 94th FS/1st FG, one B-17 and one C-47.
