Hello,
He was shot down by fighter of JG 77 on 7 january 1944. According to the book point Blank he was flying with th 1st FG / 71st FS. Was hidden for 3 Months by partitasans returning to his unit after 3 months. Was he the CO of the 71st FS at the time? The US Air Force site is net conclusive saying he arrived inAugust 1943, where he served as CO of the 71st, the as group operations officer and as deputy group commander.
