With this second volume, Ulf Kaack and Jürgen Kuhlmann follow on from their first work and describe selected plane crashes in what was then the county of Hoya up to the end of the Second World War. The starting point of their research was again the small notebook of the Syker police officer Otto Meierdierk, in which he chronologically noted the air war events - German and Allied. At the core are the reports of contemporary witnesses who had to experience these dramatic, often cruel war events as children or adolescents. City and community archives provided information, but also records from the military authorities at the time, as well as archives and museums around the world, added many of these events to a complete picture. According to today's standards, hardly comprehensible facts came to light,which only happened a few decades ago on our doorstep. A moving document and a memorial at the same time.
