I found conflicting data on this pilot:
_ according to the JG 54 loss list by Rosipal, Lt Günther Haller of Stab JG 54 was killed in Luftkampf on 15 August 1944 near Neugut. He was flying the Fw 190 A-5 WNr 1190.
_ according to the Volksbund, he died on 16 August 1944 in "Ortslazaret Neugut, Sanko 1/181".
_ Haller was an ace with 30 victories, according to
http://users.accesscomm.ca/magnusfamily/ww2ger.htm he died on 1 September 1944.
_ from the summary of Luftwaffe losses, on 15 August 1944 Stab JG 54 lost one aircraft "Destroyed by gunfire from enemy aircraft during operational flight, observed by enemy". It was the only loss of the Stab during the whole of the month.
So my guess is that Haller was shot down on the 15th and died of wound the next day in an hospital at Neugut. By the way, Neugut is the German name for Vecumnieki, Latvia (
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vecumnieki).
But then was he shot down in Neugut, or brought there after crashing elsewhere ?
If anyone has more details about this loss, I will be interested.
