Re: 5 September 1941 - Blenheim crash + ASR

Col. Bruggy,

Thank you for this "probable" match. The area seems to fit, as well as the situation; however as you will read bellow, it seems that Dupérier did not fly on that day.

Laurent, your tip beared fruits...I managed to "see" the Summary of Events (AIR 27/1471/37) and can share that there was NO Flight on the 5th September 1941...so the author wrote a wrong date on his "memories". Patrols were carried on the 4th and 7th September, without too much to report.

However, on the 2nd September 1941, there was a massive Squadron "strike escort" in two separate missions to cover Blenheims. Again,

On the 23rd September, the ORB informs that Dupérier was transferred to Nº 615 Squadron.

File AIR 27/1471/38 confirm that he (Dupérier) flew on the 2, 3, 4th and 10th September. The only mission recorded as "Blenheim escort" was on the 2nd September.

Guess that the author mixed up dates and events...surely. It seems to have NO match for that loss. Col Bruggy found a "probable" one, but on that date the author did not flew.

Anyway, very interesting to find that other authors also mixed up dates and events....no doubt with so many flights under one's belt and probable diary written days before the action or event...

Adriano
