I would like to know the precise type of the Fw 190 WNr 0581 of Luftbeobachterstaffel 3 that crashed at Venlo on 8 January 1944. The reason of crash and fate of the pilot is given in the thread

Apparently a Ju 88 took off at the same time as the Fw 190. I wonder if at this stage of the war the Luftbeobachterstaffeln had received fighters to provide some king of escort fighter to their bombers? Or were fighters used also for Luftbeobachtung purposes, ie following the Allied formations and reporting their progress ?
