Canadian aircraft crash 4 November 1956

Hi,

I found the following in the Glasgow Herald dated 5th November 1956.

Yesterday a Canadian aircraft was flying from Canda to France via Iceland. As it was overflying Fife, Scotland there was an explosion and the two man crew baled out. The crew were Flt Lt John Edwin Flannagan and Mr Marland. Flt Lt Flannagan suffered a dislocated shoulder while Mr Marland appears to have been uninjured. The aircraft came down near Kilmaron Castle, Cupar, Fife.

So far I have been unable to identify the Canadian aircraft. Would anyone have any idea as to aircraft type and full identity of Mr Marland?

Regards,

Alex
