Correct IMHO, Rolland, undo the locking knob, slide device forward to disengage from the three pegs, the panel then simply pushes out and falls.
There are small overhangs inside left & right, and one external outside along the bottom. Fairly typical British design, multiple parts and half a box of rivets.
This is obviously why there are no external pics of the panel partly open, as is often seen on other aircraft.
I only hope that I can do it all justice in my replica.
