Re: Do 217 A-0
Hi Rémi,
W.Nr. 703 = Do 217 V5
W.Nr. 704 = Do 217 V6
W.Nr. 2701-2706 = A-0
W.Nr. 2707 = Do 217 V7
W.Nr. 2708 = Do 217 V8
I quote from my book " It is commonly stated in many publications that two A-0 aircraft, W.Nr. 2703 and 2704 were allocated as test aircraft and given the Versuch numbers V5 respectively V6. This is however incorrect and is an unfortunate misunderstanding that is often repeated. The Do 217 V5 and V6 had the W.Nr. 703 and 704 and were taken from the Dornier sequential W.Nr. series which covered all types of Dornier aircraft built at the time. These prototypes were at no time equipped with the DB 601 engine contrary to what is suggested in publications."
Best regards
/Mikael
