Jaakko Hillo, 1921-2019
Dear forum members,
unfortunately I have to inform that Kapteeni Jaakko Hillo passed away on 22 February 2019.
He flew Fokker D.XXI and Curtiss Hawk 75 in Hävittäjälentolaivue 32 in 1941–1944. He got altogether 8½ victories.
Hillo continued to serve in the Finnish Air Force after the war, but he retired from the active service in 1947.
After that he became a commercial pilot and had over 22 000 flight hours when he finally retired.
He was the last Finnish Air Force ace. All of them have now passed away.
His funeral took place in Helsinki today. Two Finnish Air Force F-18 Hornets flew over the chapel honouring our last ace.
Rest in Peace.
